Health of the job market

--The quality of new jobs shapes the perceptions about the health of the U.S. job market. --Notwithstanding assertions by some WS analysts that new jobs are mostly low quality and low paying - and that globalization is "gutting" the middle class - the facts indicate otherwise. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, most new jobs were in cateogries that tend to pay above the median wage. At the same time, job losses have been centered disproptionately in factory jobs that pay below the median wages.
