reasons for fed fund rate spike
--Demand: issuers that rely on short term commercial paper for funding, such as funds, could not roll the paper over. So they turned to back up credit lines in banks, resulting in high demand for loans
--Supply: amid the turmoil, banks desire to keep execess reserve for uncertainty so they are relunctant to lend them out.
